Summary: A new study from Rutgers University set out to investigate why more people haven’t adopted Bitcoin. The study involved 20 participants; 10 that were familiar with Bitcoin and 10 that were not.
The key takeaway of the study was that those who consider themselves familiar with Bitcoin do not tend to give accurate descriptions of how Bitcoin works and tend to believe misconceptions about Bitcoin, such as it being completely anonymous.
Those who were not familiar with Bitcoin tended to cite a “lack of technical knowledge” as the reason they haven’t tried using it, however when they were instructed to complete a Bitcoin transaction as part of the study, most participants had no difficulty actually “using” Bitcoin despite their initial fears.
